Water Safety
| At All But Water our customer and your safety is ALWAYS a concern and the foremost of importance. According to The Foundation For Aquatic Injury Prevention, drowning is one the top causes of death among child swimmers in America. With that thought in mind we have come up with some "common sense" tips in hope of making all of your swimming experiences as memorable as the last. |
| 1. Have a safety fence installed around the pool's parameter. Make sure the fence surrounds the entire pool and is equipped with latches that stay properly secure. If you have small children, your latches should be placed at a minimum of 40 inches from the ground. Also consider installing alarms on doors, windows and gates which open to the pool area. |
|
2. Not even for a moment should a child be left unattended in a pool area. Be sure there are no distractions such as doorbells, phone calls, chores, etc. If you have to leave the area, take the child with you and be sure the latch is secure before walking away. |
3. During a party or any other gathering, have a "designated watcher". This person is responsible for watching all the children if you should have to walk away.
4. Post rules! For example, no running, no dunking and NEVER swim alone! Make sure to enforce the rules!
5. If a child should show up missing, check the pool first. During a potential drowning incident, seconds count and can mean the difference between life and death!

|
6. When hiring a baby-sitter make sure he/she is aware of the pool's existence and how to use the protective latches and alarms. Make sure he/she can swim how to get emergency help if needed and knows how to perform CPR. |
|
7. If your pool has a cover be sure that it remains completely covered when not in use. Children can become entrapped beneath the cover. |
|
8. Make sure to place all chairs and tables away from the pool fence so to prevent being climbed over.
9. Keep rescue equipment at the poolside for ready availability if ever needed.
10. Refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages while at the pool and caring for children. Intoxication could reduce your level of awareness; hence someone could get unnecessarily hurt!
|
11. Remember, just because your child has been taught to swim, does not mean they are safe. The unexpected seems to always happen unexpectantly!
12. Most important, HAVE FUN but have fun safely!
